Situation: Matte Painting done for a TV soap opera project at Globo Studios in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Task: based on the city of Aleppo in Syria. The project consisted of reproducing the real architecture of the city using a location in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro as an initial base.
Action: I collected original footage of the city of Aleppo and other Syrian cities to create an image bank of reference bases, textures and elements that could be used to create the matte painting. I cut out the elements from my image bank that would be used, created masks for all the elements and made the montage by correcting the values and colors to match the original footage.
Result: The final image had to be consistent with the original cityscape. As it was a landscape with a lot of detail, I had to do a lot of research to achieve the result the team wanted.
